Women's Grand Prix Shymkent - live

11/8/2024 – The second tournament of the 2024-25 Women's Grand Prix Series takes place in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. It's a ten-player-round-robin, the best two players in the Grand Prix series qualify for the next Women's Candidates Tournament. After eight rounds second seed Aleksandra Goryachkina leads with 6.5/8, one point ahead of the number one seed, Tan Zhongyi with 5.5/8. Chennai Masters R3: Arjun climbs to world number 2, shares the lead with Tabatabaei

Pragg's devastating loss - The Underdog

11/7/2024 – In the European Club Championship, lower rated players occasionally faced GM superstars, such as Erigaisi, Gukesh, Abdusattarov, Praggnanandhaa or others. And in the very first round, Pragg had to deal with IM Francois Godart from Belgium, rated 2377. In a Sicilian Rossolimo, Godart had a pawn less, but strong counterplay. 11/7/2024 – Round two of the Chennai Grand Masters Chess Tournament brought intense action in both the Masters and Challengers sections. In the Masters, Iranian players Amin Tabatabaei and Parham Maghsoodloo scored their first wins, with Tabatabaei joining Arjun Erigaisi and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in the lead. WGP Shymkent: Goryachkina continues to win

11/6/2024 – In the 6th round of the Women's Grand Prix Tournament in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, Aleksandra Goryachkina won her fourth game in a row. She played against German Grandmaster Elisabeth Paehtz, who missed study-like drawing chances in a difficult endgame. Stavroula Tsolakidou, Tan Zhongyi and Kateryna Lagno also won their games. 11/5/2024 – The final day of the 27th Open International Bavarian Chess Championship at Gut Kaltenbrunn at Tegernsee saw another very exciting round, as eleven players were still in the running for the tournament victory. Shymkent GP: Goryachkina wins three in a row, grabs the lead

11/4/2024 – Aleksandra Goryachkina has taken the lead at the Shymkent Women’s Grand Prix with a stellar performance, securing her third consecutive win by defeating former co-leader Tan Zhongyi in round 5. Goryachkina now holds 4/5 points, a half-point ahead of Kazakhstan's own Bibisara Assaubayeva, who sits in second place after a strong win against Humpy Koneru. 2300 English FM is nine years old!

11/4/2024 – England’s record-breaking crop of chess talents scored another incredible milestone this week when nine-year-old north London schoolboy, Ethan Pang, became the youngest-ever to pass the 2300 rating mark in an official list and earn the FIDE Master (FM) title. At an event last month, Ethan beat no less than three grandmasters. They come younger every year!
