World Championship Game 13: Tense draw keeps match tied, one game to go

4/28/2023 – The penultimate classical game of the World Championship match finished in a 39-move draw. Ding Liren got good chances to go for the win with the black pieces, failed to handle them well, and ended up needing to play accurately to hold the draw. 4/27/2023 – GM Bartosz Soćko and WFM Michalina Rudzińska are the 2023 Polish chess champions. Michalina successfully defended her title from last year, while Bartosz won his third national chess crown. The open event was a 16-player knockout tournament, which attracted the best Polish players, except for Jan-Krzysztof Duda. Levon Aronian wins Satty Zhuldyz Rapid and Blitz 2023

4/26/2023 – Former sole leader Arjun Erigaisi faltered on the second day of blitz at the Satty Zhuldyz Rapid and Blitz tournament in Kazakhstan. The only two-time FIDE World Cup winner in history, Levon Aronian, took his chance and won the event with a round to spare. 4/26/2023 – The wild ride continues. Ding Liren defeated Ian Nepomniachtchi in a game full of ups and downs to level the score in the World Championship match. Ding had a good position out of the opening, but soon lost the thread, leaving Nepo with a real chance to all but secure overall match victory with a win. And then came Nepo’s collapse. 4/24/2023 – An international Go tournament, the Chunlan Cup, with a $200,000 prize fund, has been wrapped in controversy. In the semifinal round, newcomer Li Xuanhao (China) managed to defeat the reigning world champion Shin Jin-seo (South Korea). Li’s own teammate accused him of receiving AI support during the game.

Satty Zhuldyz 2023: Arjun Erigaisi roars in rapid

4/23/2023 – Arjun Erigaisi won the rapid section of the Satty Zhuldyz tournament in Astana with a 9½/11 score. The youngster kicked off the day with a win over Vladimir Kramnik. He then he drew Levon Aronian, before finishing the rapid event with a victory over Kateryna Lagno. Aronian finished the rapid in second place with 8/11, while Alexander Grischuk was third with 7/11. Robert Ris: Ding’s immortal game

4/22/2023 – Ding Liren crossed the 2700-rating barrier back in 2012, and was soon regarded as one of the potential challengers for the world title. A week from now, the soft-spoken grandmaster from Wenzhou might become the new world chess champion. Thus, this is a good time to reminisce on his most spectacular victory.
