Tal Memorial 2018 in Moscow: LIVE

3/5/2018 – In memory of Mikhail Tal, the 11th Tal Memorial takes place in Moscow from March 2nd-4th, with a blitz tournament on March 5th. The venue is the Museum of Russian Impressionists in Moscow. Participants are Mamedyarov, Kramnik, Svidler, Nepomniachtchi, Anand, Dubov, Nakamura, Gelfand, Karjakin and Grishuk. On this DVD Dorian Rogozenco, Mihail Marin, Oliver Reeh and Karsten Müller present the 8. World Chess Champion in video lessons: his openings, his understanding of chess strategy, his artful endgame play, and finally his immortal combinations.

Blitz

The tournament is a single round-robin tournament with 14 players:

Hikaru Nakamura, Viswanathan Anand, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Grischuk, Peter Svidler, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Sergey Karjakin, Daniil Dubov, Boris Gelfand, Dmitry Andreikin, Vladislav Artemiev, Alexander Morozevich and Vladimir Fedoseev.

The time control is 5 minutes plus 3 seconds per move for the game. The prize fund is USD $30,000 with $10,000 for first place.

Rapid

The tournament was nine rounds of rapid (25 minutes + 10 seconds increment), followed by a blitz tournament of 13 rounds (5 minutes + 3 seconds increment). For the rapid tournament we have the following participants (in order of rapid rating):

Hikaru Nakamura, Viswanathan Anand, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Vladimir Kramnik, Alexander Grischuk, Peter Svidler, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Sergey Karjakin, and Daniil Dubov, Boris Gelfand.

The four remaining players for the blitz event are yet to be named.

There is a USD $130,000 prize fund, with $25,000 for first place.
