3/7/2025 – From 26 February to 7 March, ten top grandmasters, including Wei Yi, Praggnanandhaa, Le Quang Liem and Vincent Keymer, will play for tournament victory and prize money in the Prague Masters. The Masters is part of the 7th Prague Chess Festival that also includes a Challengers tournament, an Open and many attractive side events. 2/24/2025 – The 7th Prague Chess Festival kicks off on Tuesday 25 February. Among the players is Czech grandmaster Thai Dai Van Nguyen, who won the Challengers Tournament in Wijk aan Zee in January. He is ranked ninth in the Masters, but last year he finished just half a point behind the winner, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, in joint second to fourth place. 2/16/2025 – The Prague Chess Festival returns for its seventh edition from 26 February to 7 March at the Hotel Don Giovanni in Czechia’s capital. Organised by the Novy Bor Chess Club, the event follows a format similar to Wijk aan Zee, featuring Masters, Challengers and Futures sections. This year’s Masters tournament includes past winner Sam Shankland, rising stars Vincent Keymer and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, and seasoned grandmasters such as Wei Yi and Anish Giri.
The Elephant Gambit (1.e4.e5 2.Nf3 d5!?) has never really been given the attention it deserves. It is a very useful surprise weapon.
