The Silkway Cup
The Silkway Cup celebrates Independence Day in Georgia (May 26) and Republic Day in Azerbaijan (May 28). The tournament intends to allow chess players to train their skills during the current pandemic and the tournaments also supports the promotion and development of chess.
The Organizers are Socar Energy Georgia, the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and the Georgian Chess Federation
The tournament will be held on PLAYCHESS.COM which can be downloaded for free.
Format
- Swiss System with 15 rounds
- Time Control: the tournament will be played according to the FIDE rules: each participant will have 3 minutes + 2 seconds for each move till the end of the game. 2 minute default time will be applied.
- Start time – 15:00, 1 – 7 rounds - 26th of May 2020 (13:00 CEST)
- Start time – 18:00, 8 – 15 rounds - 28th of May 2020 (16:00 CEST)
Tie–Break
The final ranking order of the players is determined by the number of points scored. If at the end of the tournament, two or more players are tied for the first place or for any prize, the tie shall be broken in priority according to the following criteria for Swiss events:
a) The games between the tied players (only if all tied have played each other)
b) Progressive Score
c) Medium-Buchholz (neglecting the best and worse scores)
