Short leads in Prague against Dai Van Nguyen

10/12/2020 – Currently, chess legend Nigel Short and the young Czech Grandmaster Thai Dai Van Nguyen, play a friendly 10-game rapid match in Prague. It began October 10, and after six games Short leads 3½:2½. Today, the last four games will be played.

Nigel Short vs Thai Dai Van Nguyen

At the invitation of the Prague Chess Society and organiser Pavel Matocha, Nigel Short (55), Vice World Champion of 1993 and currently Vice President of FIDE, and the 18-year-old Czech Grandmaster Dai Van Nguyen met in Prague to play a friendly match.

Due to the Corona pandemic spectators are not allowed to follow the match live. However, the Prague Chess Society shows the games on its website and its Youtube channel. Commentator is Stepan Zilka, who is supported by David Navara.

At the end of his visit in Prague, Short will play a simul against young Czech talents.

Five of the first six games of the match ended with a draw, but Short managed to win game number three.
