One month until the Senior Team Champs

The 2020 World Team Championship for Seniors will take place from March 5th to 15th at the Hotel Olympik (Prague, Czech Republic). The event is intended for teams of four with a substitute player and is held in the two age groups: over 50 and over 65 years (men and women separately). The total prize fund for all categories combined is EUR €10,000.

In recent years, this event has been held in Germany and Greece. The number of participating teams was 50-60 (Greece) and 100-120 (Germany). As of the end of January, there were 117 teams and 524 players from 32 countries registered (among them, 42 GMs, 50 IMs, 66 FMs, 10 WGMs, 12 WIMs and 14 WFMs).

These tournaments offer amateur players a chance to play alongside the likes of Sveshnikov, Balashov, Hort, Vaisser, Shabalov, Jusupov, Ehlvest, Short, Nunn, Speelman, Schlosser, Boensch, Jansa and more greats. A wonder experience for all chess fans.

This World Senior Teams also take place in one of the most beautiful cities in the world — Prague and one which is easily accessible from anywhere in Europe by train or car.

Anyone can participate. A team can be set up by clubs, cities, regions, countries or associations. There are only two eligibility requirements: the minimum age, and the fact that players must be from the national chess federations on your team.

It's a unique opportunity, come to Prague to represent your club, city, region or country!

As with the 2016 Senior World Championship in Marienbad, the organizers strive to create a pleasant, friendly and pleasant atmosphere.
