Live in Prague: David Navara versus Ding Liren

6/19/2019 – Prague is a beautiful city and it is a chess city: from June 16 to June 19 Prague hosts the Chess Festival Prague and two attractive rapid matches: David Navara plays against Ding Liren, and chess legend Jan Timman plays against Thai Dai Van Nguyen, the best Czech junior. Both matches go over ten games and after two days and seven games Ding Liren and Nguyen both lead 4-3. Games 8 to 10 will follow today, game 8 starts at 4 pm local time (10 am EDT, 2 pm GMT). Prague Chess Festival 2019

Initially, the match between David Navara and Ding Liren was scheduled for last year but when Ding Liren had a biking accident during the Norway Chess Tournament 2018 he had to cancel. But this year Ding Liren is ready to play David Navara. In the second match Jan Timman plays against Thai Dai Van Ngyuen, Czech's best junior.

The Chess Festival 2019 takes place at the Municipal House (Prague 1, náměstí Republiky 1090/5).
The matches will be played in at Sladkovsky Hall. All games are explained to the audience by the experienced grandmaster Robert Cvek in the commentator's hall. Tickets (one-day 150 CZK / children, students and pensioners 80 CZK; multi-day 350 CZK / children, students and pensioners 180 CZK), can be bought at the premises or booked by e-mail prazska.sachova@gmail.com.

3:30 pm - opening of the exhibition of chess photographs by Vladimír Bradler
4:00 pm – a simultaneous game of the grandmaster Ding Liren
4:00 pm – a simultaneous game for children and youth of the grandmaster David Navara

Monday, 17 June
3:00 pm – a lecture by grandmaster Robert Cvek - Play Sicilian defense like Bobby Fischer - with white pieces
4:00 pm - 1st - 3rd game of the grandmasters matches (rapid chess)

Tuesday, 18 June
3:00 pm - 4th - 7th game of the grandmasters matches (rapid chess)

Wednesday, 19 June
3:00 pm – a lecture by grandmaster Robert Cvek - Play Sicilian defense like Bobby Fischer - with black pieces
4:00 pm - 8th to 10th game of the grandmasters matches (rapid chess)
