6/22/2021 – Thanks to a remarkable performance in the second half of the blitz section, Wesley So won the Paris Rapid & Blitz Tournament with one round to spare. Day 5 - Blitz

The second leg of the 2021 Grand Chess Tour is taking place on June 18-22 at the Mobilier National in Paris.

Since 2016, the Paris Rapid and Blitz tournament has been a part of the Grand Chess Tour and this year is no exception. Through the support of KasparovChess, Vivendi, and Colliers International, Paris is hosting the second stop on the 2021 Grand Chess Tour and promises five days of excitement and fireworks. Eleven elite grandmasters compete for a total prize fund of $150,000. 

The event consists of two sections: a three-day single round robin with a rapid time control (25’+10”), followed by a two-day double round robin with a blitz time control (5’+2”). The action kicks off daily at 14.00 CEST (12.00 UTC, 08.00 ET)
