ChessBase has recently incorporated a version of the 7-piece tablebases into the cloud-based Let's Check web app, part of the ChessBase account.
The algorithm of retrograde analysis was proved correct as far back as 1912, but only became practical with the advent of powerful computers. The latest 7-piece tablebases are still too large to use at this point within ChessBase with a local engine, however you can have access to 6-piece tablebases wherever you are, even without and internet connection thanks to Endgame Turbo 5.
