Ginkgo (Fritz) is World Champion!

7/27/2022 – The program Ginkgo, Frank Schneider, has just won the computer chess world championship in the software group, after a playoff against Komodo Dragon. Ginkgo is the main engine of the Fritz 18 program package. It is an improved version of the Engine Fritz18 NNUE that was distributed as a free update to Fritz 18 owners last March. Late replacement Dmitrij Kollars wins No-Castling World Masters

7/25/2022 – Dmitrij Kollars, who only joined the tournament after Vladimir Kramnik had to withdraw due to Covid-related issues, was the surprise winner of the No-Castling World Masters. The 22-year-old beat Daniel Fridman in the final round to catch Vishy Anand atop the standings. Kollars was declared champion on tiebreak criteria, as he scored one more win than the Indian star.
