The World Chess Championship 2012 is being staged in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, between the current World Champion Viswanathan Anand of India and the winner of the Candidates tournament Boris Gelfand of Israel. The match is over twelve games and lasts from May 11 to 30. The prize fund is US $2.55 million, the winner getting $1.53 million (60%), the loser $1,02 million (40%).
You might think that an official rest day meant no chess-related material, but GM Daniel King made a private broadcast with a summary on the action until now, and more specifically commented on the lack of action many have been grumbling about.
To further spice up the video, he read the comments by Steve Giddins on computers and chess, and had something to say about that as well. Still, it is not just a talk show, and in his ever-popular style, he draws a parallel between Anand and... Petrosian! Surprised? See the video and judge for yourself.
GM Danny King will be tomorrow's live commentator during the games as of 1:30 PM Paris time (7:30 AM NY time) and hosts a wrap-up show on the action with analysis and comments at 8 PM Paris time (2 PM NY time). The show is free for all Premium susbcribers, be sure to see it!
