Super Friday on Playchess.com

On Friday, April 16, 2004, the GMs and Super-GMs of the ACP Inaugural Blitz tournament are taking a pause. But the server and our tournament directors aren't. There are a number of tournament for us normal human beings to battle it out for a total of 20,000 ducats in prizes. Here are the individual tournaments. The times given are in Central European Standard Time (CEST) which is valid in France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Skandinavia. It is equivalent to GMT +2 hours.

11:00h Bullet Shoot-out No. 1
Bullet chess (one minute) matches, four wins each, knockout. The winner receives 1,000 ducats, the second place is worth 500 ducats. The games will be played in the Tournaments – Official B. Registration starts at 10:45h. The tournament is open to anyone with the rank of pawn or higher.

12:30h Fast Blitz Tournament
Nine round Fast Blitz tournament (3 min + 0 sec for all moves). This will be in Official A. The total prize fund is 2,800 ducats, the winner taking 700 dukats, the runners up 600, 500, 400, 300, 200 and 100 ducats. The tournament is open to members who are ranked knight or higher. Registration from 12:15h onwards.

14:00h Bullet Tournament
A traditional bullet tournament of 13 rounds Swiss system in Tournaments – Official B. Registration starts at 13:45h. Prize fund: 1,500 ducats, the winner getting 600 ducats, runner-up 400, third 200 , 4th to 6th 100 ducats each. Open to visitors with a pawn rank or higher.

15:30h Short Distance Blitz Tournament
Seven rounds Swiss system in classical blitz (five minutes, no increment). Location is Tournaments – Official A. Prize fund: 4,200 ducats – winner 1,000, second 700, third 400, 4-8 200. After that the places 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 60, 80 and 100 win 100 ducats each. Registration from 15:15h. The tournament is open for visitors with the rank of knight or higher.

17:00h Bullet Shoot-out No. 2
Bullet knockout matches of four wins each. The winner gets 1,000 ducats, the second place 500 ducats. Location: Official B, Registration from 16:45h. Rank: Pawn or higher.

19:00h Top Twelve Final
This is for the winners of the three bullet tournaments, the top two in the blitz tournaments as well as the top five rated players who register for the tournament (criteria: VIP, Kings, Queens, etc.). The prize fund is 9,300 ducats, which will be distributed as follows: for every point in the finals a player gets 50 ducats. The top four play a match play-off (four games plus tie-break). The winner gets 4,000 ducats, the second place 2,000 ducats. Location: Official B, registration from 18:45h. Rate of play: 3 min + 1 sec.
