I do remember that the march of Napoleon to Russia was a little unfortunate? Only 75,000 of the 600,000 men who went to conquer returned to France in November 1812.

To Keith Homeyard, unfortunately the players in Ukraine may not have time to discuss the chess moves. When a man or woman has grown too old he usually wants to hide his/hers head in the sand not to see evil of the world. He/she has already seen so much. Yes, St Louis is so far away of Ukraine, I get your point. Maybe after two weeks and few millions refugees, thousands deaths of the war, we can focus only on chess?

The Benko Gambit is back at the very highest level - and it's easy to see why. Black sacrifices a pawn to seize the initiative on the queenside, obtaining long-lasting pressure, active pieces and open files that make life difficult for White.
