Chess enthusiast Gerd Densing in playing in Reykjavik and sent us a first-hand report from the beautiful playing venue. He had this to say about the organization:

As usual, the tournament is very well-organized. [...] As in previous years, an enjoyable social programme is spread over the tournament week in the form of an opening party, a pub quiz, a blitz tournament and a Golden Circle round trip.

Five rounds have been played in Iceland, and there is a fierce fight for first place. Saturday is a double-round day, with round 8 starting at 16.00 local time (18.00 CEST). Nicholas Pert, the 2021 British champion and an all-star FritzTrainer author, will be commentating along with Blair Connell on Simon William’s Twitch channel.

The duo will focus on the game of the ever-entertaining Ginger GM!
