12/28/2018 – The 2018 World Rapid Championship were played over three days in St. Petersburg Russia, with live commentary by GMs Peter Leko and Evgeny Miroshnichenko. In the Open sections, the reigning champions Viswanathan Anand (Rapid) and Magnus Carlsen (Blitz) were back in action. In the women's rapid tournament, Anna Muzychuk is the top seed followed by World Champion Ju Wenjun. The winner of the open section was the 25th seed GM Daniil Dubov, while among the women, Ju Wenjun added the Rapid World Champion title to her list of accolades. | Photo: Lennart Ootes

"King Salman World Chess Championships" 

The 2018 King Salman FIDE World Rapid Championship is taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia from December 26th to 28th. The format is a 15-round Swiss open with a prize fund of USD $350,000, and $60,000 for 1st place.

The time control is 15 minutes per player for the entire game plus 10-seconds per move starting from move 1.
