Raising money to help friends and colleagues

by ChessBase
9/3/2005 – Much of the US Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Alabama is obliterated in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Millions of people are suffering from the devastation and desperately need water, food, shelter and medical care today, and for a massive long-term recovery effort. Former Women's World Champion Susan Polgar is raising money for the victims.

Raising MONEY to help our friends and colleagues

An appeal by GM Susan Polgar

I ask everyone to chip in and help the families who have suffered greatly down south due to hurricane Katrina. I personally pledge 25% of the profit from sales on www.PolgarChess.com in the next 60 days to help those in needs.

In addition, I would like to auction off a chess board with the signatures of all members of the 2004 historic US Women's Silver Medalist Olympiad Team and all its coaches (IM Irina Krush, WGM Anna Zatonskih, WIM Jennifer Shahade, WGM Rusa Goletiani, GMs Garry Kasparov, Boris Gulko, Sam Palatnik, Gennady Zaitchik, Alex Chernin, Team Captain Paul Truong, Head Coach Michael Khodarkovsky and me, etc.) There are only four like it in the world and one will go to the Chess Hall of Fame and Museum.

The opening bid will start at $1,000. Please e-mail me at PolgarFoundation@aol.com with your confidential bids. The bidding will close at midnight on September 15, 2005. 100% of your tax-deductible donations earmarked to Katrina victims will go to help them. I will update the current highest bids regularly on www.SusanPolgar.BlogSpot.com and www.SusanPolgarFoundation.org. I will also introduce more items for auction in the next few days. Please check on the above sites for additional items.

Please make checks payable to the Susan Polgar Foundation and send to the address above. Thank you very much for helping out. Please be generous! Countless families are suffering greatly and they need our help, especially our chess friends and colleagues.

Thank you so much for your generosity!
