First ACP Internet Tournament for Women

On Sunday, May 2nd, 2004 the Association of Chess Professionals (ACP) will hold a special Internet tournament reserved for female ACP members. This tournament will have a nice prize fund of US $2,500, provided by ChessBase GmbH. The individual prizes are:

First place  $700.00   Fifth place  $200.00 
Second place  $500.00   Sixth place  $200.00 
Third place  $400.00    Seventh place  $100.00 
Fourth place  $300.00    Eighth place  $100.00 

Since the prizes will be paid from a French bank account they will be remitted in Euro equivalents.

The ACP tournaments have been made possible through the support of China Communications Corp. (“ChinaCom”), a company that is building the world’s largest Chinese Business to Business (B2B) Platform. The events are being hosted on the ChessBase server Playchess.com.

Dear ACP member or member-to-be,

We would like to invite you to participate in the 2nd ACP Tournament, which is restricted to female members of the ACP and will be held on the Playchess.com server. The total prize fund for the tournament is US $2,500, with $700 going to the winner.

Please let us know whether you will be participating in the tournament. We need to receive confirmation from you before Saturday, May 1st, 17:00h CET (GMT +2). We urge you to participate in this great event. It will give sponsors a positive feeling about women’s tournaments and encourage them to stage more events in the future.

The tournament will start on Sunday, May 2nd, at 17:00h Central European Time. This is five p.m. in Berlin, Paris and Madrid, four p.m. in London, eleven a.m. in New York,18:00h in Kiev/Minsk, and 19:00h in Moscow.

In order to play in the tournament you will need a Fritz 8 or compatible program. If you have not installed this software on your computer you can download the free test client from www.playchess.com. It is important that you practise on the server, so that you feel comfortable with the software when the tournament begins.
