Blitz section
Hans Niemann is facing three of the world's strongest players in head-to-head matchups that each includes blitz, rapid and classical games. In the first series, Niemanns' rivals are GMs Anish Giri, Nikita Vitiugov, and Étienne Bacrot.
After beating Giri in Utrecht and Vitiugov in London, the US star made his way to Paris to face Bacrot at the picturesque Blitz Society Bar.
Schedule
- 20-22 August: 2 classical games per day, starting at 10.00 and 16.00 CEST
- 23 August: 6 rapid games, starting at 18.00 CEST
- 24 August: 12 blitz games, starting at 18.00 CEST
Format
- Classical: 90 minutes + 30-second increments; 3 points per game
- Rapid: 15 minutes + 10-second increments; 2 points per game
- Blitz: 3 minutes + 2-second increments; 1 point per game
