Aeroflot Open 2000 under way in Moscow

2/16/2008 – It will probably be the strongest open of the year, and is taking place from February 13th to 22nd. The venue and official hotel the "Gamma-Delta" Hotel, which can accomodate 3,500 guests. The festival consists of four tournaments, each a nine rounds Swiss Tournament. The Aeroflot Open 2008 is taking place from February 13th to 22nd. The venue and official hotel the "Gamma-Delta" Hotel, which can accomodate 3,500 guests. The festival consists of four tournaments, each a nine rounds Swiss Tournament. The total prize fund of the four tournaments is US $200,000 – $30,000 first place and $100,000 total in the top group.

After two rounds of play three players have perfect scores. They are followed by 22 with a win and a draw each. One of these is our young friend Fabiano Caruana, who beat GM Milos Pavlovic in the second round with the black pieces:
