Hello Dubai

After various rumors that the match would be moved to Turkey, and a stern letter from Garry Kasparov, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov told the Russian paper Sport Express that the Kasimdzhanov-Kasparov match was confirmed for Dubai.

When we spoke to Kasparov about these statements, he expressed concern that everything was still coming from Ilyumzhinov and not the Dubai organizers themselves.

KASIMDZHANOV - KASPAROV MATCH TO BE HELD IN DUBAI FROM 14 JAN TO 1 FEB

As reported to Sport Express correspondent Yuriy Vassiliev by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov yesterday, the match between FIDE World Champion Rustam Kasimdzhanov and No. 1 in the FIDE rating list Garry Kasparov, upon the latter's request, shall be postponed by one week.
The match will be held from January 14 to February 1 in Dubai.
- I have the bank's guarantees on my desk, - noted Ilyumzhinov.
- Kasparov and I are soon going to Dubai to a press-conference, and then back to Moscow together. The match was postponed by one week because Kasparov will be playing in the Russian Championship in Moscow starting November 14. And naturally, Garry wants to recover after such a strong and hard tournament that will see all best Russian players participate.
