Nazionale Piloti vs All-Star Team 6:6
After the last, somewhat traumatic round of the Dortmund Super GM, Peter Leko was in an astonishingly good mood. "Now it's over I can concentrate on preparations for the Big Match." The young Hungarian made us all guess what he was talking about: against Michael Schumacher, the Formula One driver. Okay, but not in chess? A car race? No, wrong again. It was a beneficial football match, between Formula One pilots and an All-Star team in Budapest. Peter Leko was the captain of the latter, Schumacher led the "Piloti". We received the following press release and pictures...
Crowded terraces at the Puskas Ferenc National Stadium: 22,000 spectators flocked to Budapest to witness the big match: “Nazionale Piloti (captain Michael Schumacher ) vs All Star Team (captain Peter Leko)”, which finished in a 6:6 draw.

In this special event, the world famous Spanish tenor, Placido Domingo, entered the pitch to kick off the event ! The match was balanced, but very fiery; the bombers were ready to attack putting the defenders on the spot.
The Nazionale Piloti goal-leador was the young driver Maro Engel, who scored two fantastic strikes, while his team-mates Giancarlo Fisichella, Felipe Massa, Giorgio Pantano and Zsolt Baumgartner, (who was greeted with a burst of applause by his fellow countrymen) each scored one goal.

...but Schumacher is very tricky in the curves.
The piloti forwards were supported by Michael Schumacher, Ivan Capelli, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Giorgio Pantano, Gimmy Bruni, the defender Roland Juhász, the midfielder Krisztián Vadócz and the new entry Mathias Lauda while Matteo Munari was, as always, the irreplaceable goalkeeper.
Well done, Peter. We stood up to those Formula One guys!
All the raised funds through the ticket sale – 60.000 € - will be donated to charitable Associations: Bildung für Kinder in Not, Unesco, SOS – Gyermekfalu and Dévai Szent Ferenc Alapítvány.
Formula One drivers were playing to the public in Budapest in the lead up to last Sunday’s Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. Michael Schumacher played in a charity football match last Wednesday and was before the cameras last Thursday scoring points with the locals as he cooked Hungarian specialities like lecsó and Gundel pancakes. For the Hungarian Grand Prix on Sunday Michael Shumacher won pole position, for the first time in this year. But midway through the race Kimi Raikkonen took the lead and then blew away the field for his fourth victory of the season. Schumacher ended second, his brother Ralf was third.
