
The Turkish Is Bank Chess League has started in Konya Rixos Hotel (Turkey)
and will continue from July 10th until July 22nd, 2012. This year, near 300
players from 14 clubs are participating in this event. The Turkish Team Championship
(1st Chess League) was inaugurated in 1995. In 2004, it changed its name to
Super League, but after the Turkish Isbank assumed sponsorship in 2006, the
name was changed once more to the Turkish Isbank Chess League.
Report after round nine
After nine rounds Istanbul Besiktas Jimnastik Club continues to lead in the
Turkish Isbank League, with seventeen points. Two rounds were played on 18th
of July. The toughest match in the eighth round happened among the leader Besiktas
Jimnastik Club and chaser Istanbul Teknik University Sport Club.

A very exciting game (above) between Viorel Bologan and Dragan Solak finished
last and became decisive for the match. The victory of Moldavian player brought
a draw in the match for Istanbul Teknik University Sport Club, which placed
second one point behind Besiktas. Ankara Gazi Üniversitesi Sport Club is
on the third place with 13 points.

This year Turkish Isbank League has dress-code – all the teams should
wear t-shirts with the club and TSF logo. Valentina Gunina didn’t know
this rule at the beginning of the tournament, so she just wears one of her nice
dresses. In few minutes the t-shirt was in the playing hall.

All in green: Mikhail Kobalia, Vladimir Malakhov and Valentina Gunina playing

WGM Sopiko Guramishvili found her own way of wearing the t-shirt and proved
that
she is a creative designer. The Georgian player has 7.0/9 and a 2508 performance.

Elisabeth Pähtz playing for Istanbul Teknik University has 2.5/6

Maria Muzychuk, playing for Istanbul Besiktas Jimnastik Club,
has seven out of nine and a 2517 performance

Dragan Solak, playing for Besiktas, has 5.5/9 and a 2661 performance

Sergey Tiviakov has a very stable eight-draw 2630 performance

Levan Pantsulaia, Isek Aqaumatch, has 5.5/7 with a 2671 performance

Merab Gagunashvili has 3.5 out of eight games and a 2516 performance

Mikhail Gurevich has four out of eight and a 2569 performance

Kubra Ozturk of Besiktas is going to play on the first board for
the Turkish Women's National Team at the next Olympiad

Pavel Tregubov with 3.5 out of eight and a 2561 performance

15-year-old Ukrainian sensation Illya Nyzhnyk has 7.5/9 with a 2733 performance
(!)

Ezgi Menzi has 5.5 out of 9 points
