The traditional Vugar Gashimov Memorial, in memory of the Azerbaijani grandmaster, is being held in Gabala on December 8-11. It is a 10-player rapid and blitz tournament. 

The rapid tournament will be played with 15 minutes for the game plus 10-second increments. The blitz tournament will be played with 3 minutes for the game plus 2-second increments.

A win in rapid will be worth 2 points, while a draw will grant 1 point to each player. In blitz, the usual scoring system of 1 point for a win and ½ point for a draw will be in place.

  • December 9: Rounds 1-3 of rapid
  • December 10: Rounds 4-6 of rapid
  • December 11: Rounds 7-9 of rapid
  • December 12: Rounds 1-18 of blitz (starting one hour earlier than usual)
