My name is Elshan Moradiabadi. I am a GM who was born in Tehran and was one of the top two players in Iran between 2003-2016. I moved to the US in 2012, where I have participated in several US collegiate chess events, having won the Final Four in 2012 and 2015 Pan Americans with Texas Tech University’s chess team. I won the Iranian championship in 2001, and a number of open tournaments in Europe before moving to the United States. I earned my BS.c in chemical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and an MBA and MA from Texas Tech, and am a naturalized citizen of the US.
During my tenure in Lubbock,Texas I have either won or finished on top in several open tournaments. In the meantime, I co-authored a book named Chess and the Art of War with Al Lawrence. Since 2017, I have been residing in Durham, North Carolina with my dear fiance WGM Sabina Foisor and our cat ‘Regina’. I teach and play chess professionally while working on side projects. Recently I have completed a book for club players along with Sabina, which will be published by Thinkers Publishing.
As a coach I have coached US junior national team, US open national team, Iran’s junior national team, and over 350 individuals in the past 10 years.
I hope you enjoy my streams! Schedule: Friday April 24th 1-10 pm EST.
