Abdusattorov tops FIDE Circuit 2026-27 leaderboard after Tata Steel triumph

2/10/2026 – Nodirbek Abdusattorov heads the FIDE Circuit 2026–27 standings after winning the Tata Steel Masters, earning 25.78 points at one of the season’s most significant events. Javokhir Sindarov, Hans Niemann, Jorden van Foreest and Vincent Keymer follow closely behind, while other early results from Wijk aan Zee, the Rilton Cup and the Brazil Series have also shaped the leaderboard. Nodirbek Abdusattorov has taken the lead in the FIDE Circuit 2026–27 following his impressive victory at the Tata Steel Masters 2026, netting him 25.78 points.

As the first major of the year and one of the most point‑heavy tournaments on the calendar, the Tata Steel Masters propelled its top finishers into prominent positions: Javokhir Sindarov, Hans Niemann, Jorden van Foreest and Vincent Keymer now occupy the places directly behind the leader. Andy Woodward, winner of the Tata Steel Challengers, holds sixth place with 7.46 points, while runner‑up Vasyl Ivanchuk ranks eighth.

The traditional Rilton Cup, which concluded in early January, initially produced an early circuit leader, the event's winner Xu Xiangyu. However, following the Tata Steel tournaments, he has slipped to seventh place in the standings.

Rounding out the top 10 are the top two finishers from the Brazil Series in Florianópolis: André Diamant with 5.42 points and Aryan Tari with 4.81 points.

‘New ideas in the Najdorf – a Power Play 18 Update’ aims to complement Daniel King’s popular DVD from last year ‘The Sicilian Najdorf - a repertoire for Black’. Such a dynamic and popular opening as the Najdorf is developing the whole time. On this download, Daniel King updates lines that were included on his DVD but also responds to viewers’ requests, considering lines that he omitted from his original repertoire. The lines examined on this update are: • 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 d6 3 d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 Nf6 5 Nc3 a6 6 h3 e5 7 Nde2 • 5….a6 6 Bc4 in combination with the English Attack (Be3, f3 etc) • 5…a6 6 Be3 and the …a5 variation • 5…a6 6 Be2 and 9 Re1 • 5 f3 (instead of 5 Nc3) It isn’t necessary to have seen the original Najdorf DVD to understand the lines examined here – but it would help as they form part of a complete repertoire.
