Rapid chess

The European Chess Club Cup will be played online, on the Tornelo platform, on March 27-31. The rapid tournament will be split in three stages. Every game will be played with a time control of 15 minutes for the game plus 5-second increments per move.

  • Qualification phase (March 27-28) – Groups consisting of 8 or 10 teams play robin round tournaments of 7 or 9 rounds. The groups will be divided according to the average rating of the four (4) regular players, with the FIDE March 2021 rating list taken in account. At least two teams from each group qualify to the play-offs.
  • Play-offs (March 29) – The qualifiers from the first phase fight for 9 spots in the final.
  • Final group (March 30-31) – 10 teams play a single round robin tournament. The winner of the European Women’s Online Chess Club Cup, Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo, will be the tenth team in contention.

Registrations for the 1st European Online Chess Club Cup are open till March 19, and can be done online on this link. See the full official regulations of the event.
