10/13/2012 – In the open section there were two mini-upsets: second seed SHSM-64, with an average rating of 2722, could only draw OSG Baden-Baden e.V., average 2690; and Ashdod, average 2668, defeated Ugra, average 2706, by 3½:2½. Winning starts with what you know
The new version 18 offers completely new possibilities for chess training and analysis: playing style analysis, search for strategic themes, access to 6 billion Lichess games, player preparation by matching Lichess games, download Chess.com games with built-in API, built-in cloud engine and much more.

The 28th European Club Cup 2012 is taking place in Eilat, Israel, as a seven-round Swiss from October 11 to 18 (no free day). The rounds starts at 15:00 local time. The time controls are 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move, starting from move one. The zero tolerance rule (6.6a of the FIDE Laws of Chess) will be applied: any player who arrives at the chessboard after the start of the session loses the game.

Round two report

SHSM-64, one of the five teams with a rating average of over 2700, could only draw against OSG Baden-Baden e.V., in spite of a win by World Championship challenger Boris Gelfand over Britain's Michael Adams (in return Arkadij Naiditsch defeated Anish Giri). The other "upset" was Ashdod, average rating 2668, defeating Ugra, 2706, by 3½:2½, with wins by Ivanchuk and Eljanov and a loss by Smirin. After two rounds there are five teams with four points each: Ashdod, Saint-Petersburg Chess Federation, Economist-SGSEU Saratov, Tammer-Shakki and Tomsk-400. It's too early to be very meaningful, but you will find the full rankings here.
