The Creepy Crawly

I am celebrating the play of Michael Basman, who died recently, by showing a game that we played in the British Championship in 1990. He played ‘The Creepy Crawly’ against me — 1...h6 and 2...a6, and I found myself under pressure straight from the opening!

It is hard to describe one’s emotions when facing a system such as this which appears to flout
basic opening ideas. Only someone as strong as Mike could get away with this.

Black to play and win.
