FRITZ 20 is more than just a chess engine – it is a training revolution for ambitious players and professionals. Whether you are taking your first steps into the world of serious chess training, or already playing at tournament level, FRITZ 20 will help you train more efficiently, intelligently and individually than ever before.

For each round, a new starting position is drawn 15 minutes before the start of the round. All games in this round start with this position and the players have 15 minutes to think of an opening strategy for the starting position. It is forbidden to use engines or software to analyse the starting position, or to consult with anyone outside the game. However, players may discuss the starting position with each other.

The time control is 20 minutes per player per game, with an increment of 5 seconds from the first move (G/20+5). The total prize money is $150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand US dollars). In the event of a tie for first place, there will be a play-off between all tied players to determine the final place.
