CB for Android: How to download and review games

With the latest update of ChessBase for Android, users now have complete tools to not only review their games in detail, but do genuine opening preparation on the go, and all with their smartphones or tablets. You can also download PGN games, commented or not, and review them with a super grandmaster engine quite easily in the ChessBase for Android app. This takes only a few seconds. Here's how:

Reading the news with a modern phone is quite straightforward, especially with the
fast and easy zooming and intelligent formatting on their browsers. This is ChessBase
News as seen with Firefox for Android.

Let's click on the article promising analysis by Nepomniachtchi.
The promise also means there will be a PGN for ready download.

Although the phone's browser will allow one to use the Java replayer,
it is still not as pleasant as viewing within the app. Just as in your
desktop, let's click on Download PGN at the end of the game.

It takes a second or two and will then ask you what you want
to open it in. Select ChessBase and then choose Always if you
want to make it the default choice.

It opens the app and shows you the contents of the PGN. In this case there is only
one game so we tap on it to open it.

All the analysis is there and we can play through it. Let's see what
the engine thinks of Nepomniachtchi's preference for 17...Qc7.

To turn on the engine, just swipe the notation to the left

After about ten seconds, we see the engine agrees with him

If you want to save the analysis to the notation, select the arrow and then To Notation

In the next part we will look at how to use the combined tools of ChessBase Online for Android to review games you played live or online.

ChessBase Online for Android can be purchased at the Google Play Store.
