Both Carlsen and Lagno undefeated!
Magnus Carlsen (Norway) defended his title of the world's strongest blitz player by dominating the championship with 17/21. Jan-Krzysztof Duda (Poland) finished second with 16½ points. Hikaru Nakamura (USA) took third with 14½ points.
Kateryna Lagno (Russia) won the Women's Section and repeated her success of 2010. She collected 13½ points. Sarasadat Khademalsharieh (Iran) won the silver with 13 points. Lei Tingjie (China) got the bronze with 12½ points.
The 2018 King Salman FIDE World Blitz Championship is taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia from December 29th to 30th. The format is a 21-round Swiss open with a prize fund of USD $350,000, and $60,000 for 1st place.
The time control is 3 minutes per player for the entire game plus 2-seconds per move starting from move 1.
