The name of the author of the study below is given as I. Dobias and this is probably the Czech Master Josef Dobias. He was born on December 24, 1886, and belonged to the same generation of Czech players as Oldrich Duras, Ladislav Prokes, Karel Treybal and Karel Hromadka. Dobias liked tactics and was apparently prone to come into time-trouble. Witnesses say, he then only made "short moves close to the clock" but was still very dangerous.
According to the ChessBase Mega Database Dobias played his last tournament in 1956. He died on January 31, 1981.
