Meet Garry Kasparov & 'Deep Junior' Computer Team
As They Prepare for "Man vs. Machine" World Chess Championship

Detail Garry Kasparov, one of the best chess players in history, has surpassed Bobby Fischer's best ever rating of 2785. The 'Man vs. Machine' championship sets the World Master against Deep Junior, three-time world super-computer chess champion and successor to Deep Blue, in a series of six matches in NYC from January 26-February 7, 2003.

The January 23 press conference will include a brief presentation about the upcoming face-off, followed by Q&A with:

  • The legendary Garry Kasparov;
  • The team behind the Deep Junior chess-playing super-computer;
  • Kirsan Ilyumnzhinov, president of sanctioning body F.I.D.E. (Federation Internationale des Echecs); and
  • Elliot Klein, CEO of X3D Technologies.

X3D Technologies, creators of patented "Extreme 3D" hardware and software that are changing the face of entertainment, will broadcast all six championship matches LIVE via the Internet in X3D. Visitors to www.x3dworld.com will be able to see real-time 3D views of the chessboard, with the image floating in the air inside and in front of the screen. Live commentaries will also be broadcast.
