The Open and Women's World Team Championships took place on March 4th-14th in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana. Both events were nine-round single round robin tournaments.
In the open section Russia clinched first place after just eight rounds. England edged past China for the silver medal and the latter took bronze.
In the Women's, China were the clear front-runners, and also sealed victory with a round to spare. The silver went clearly to the Russians and Georgia grabbed the bronze with more board points than Ukraine, who finished fourth.
Games and commentary
Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment starting from move one. No draw offers are allowed until after move 30.
