André Schulz is also involved with ChessBase Magazine and assists with FritzTrainer DVDs. Together with IM Oliver Reeh, he regularly presents the program "TV ChessBase" since 2003, every Friday from 17:00.

Vlastimil Hort was one of the best players in the world in the 1970s. 5/6/2025 – The OMR (Online Marketing Rockstars) Festival, launched in 2011, is a large conference and trade fair for the digital marketing sector, currently attracting over 70,000 visitors annually. This year, the festival will take place on 6 and 7 May in Hamburg. Speakers will include Danny Rensch, Levy Rozman and Anna Cramling.
5/2/2025 – Many of the top players were mainly involved in Freestyle Chess in April, which is not rated by FIDE. However, the end of the Austrian and German Bundesliga seasons did bring about some changes in the world rankings. And in the junior women's category, Divya Deshmukh and Li Miaoyi are engaged in an exciting duel.
4/30/2025 – The Czech Chess Federation announced yesterday on its website the death of Czech grandmaster Petr Neuman (11 March 1978 – 29 April 2025). The Czech Chess Federation describes Petr Neuman, who became a grandmaster in 2013, as one of the country's most active players. 4/28/2025 – If it hadn't been for Viernheim's poor start to the season, the Bundesliga final in Deggendorf could have been a real thriller. But Düsseldorf won this year's Bundesliga with one round to spare, and the 4-4 draw between Düsseldorf and Viernheim in the final round was nothing to write home about. Düsseldorfer SK are the new German team champions. Mülheim Nord and Bad Mergenheim were relegated.
4/24/2025 – The Bundesliga is probably the strongest national league in the world. Now the 2024/2025 season is coming to an end and all teams are meeting in the Bavarian town of Deggendorf for the last three rounds. Magnus Carlsen, top board of the FC St. Pauli, will not be there, but it is sure to be a chess festival nonetheless.

4/16/2025 – In a very one-sided match, Ju Wenjun defended her title as women's world champion against Tan Zhongyi. Although the challenger took the lead in the second game, she suffered four consecutive defeats from the fifth game onwards. 4/15/2025 – On 4 April, Iceland's first grandmaster Fridrik Olafsson passed away. Olafsson had celebrated his 90th birthday in January. After ending his career as a professional chess player, he became a lawyer and eventually became FIDE President. FIDE published Olafsson's last interview, in which he talks about computers, his chess career and his friendship with Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky, among other things.
4/15/2025 – After getting the lead in the match on Sunday, Magnus Carlsen did not allow Hikaru Nakamura to get realistic chances of a comeback in the final of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam leg in Paris, as he secured tournament victory with a draw. Today, the defending champion Ju Wenjun won a fourth game in a row against challenger Tan Zhonqui, increasing her lead to 6-2. 4/8/2025 – Hans Niemann, who received a wild card for the 2025 Freestyle tournament in Paris after winning the Grenke Open in 2024, has cancelled his participation in Paris at very short notice - for personal reasons. In a video interview with chess.com, organiser Jan Henric Buettner talks about the circumstances of Niemann's withdrawal.
