The Online Marketing Rockstars Festival (OMR) is a two-day digital marketing exhibition. In addition to numerous national and international exhibitors from many areas of digital marketing - analytics, marketing attribution, consulting, content marketing, influencer marketing and social media marketing, software and video advertising, search engine marketing and much more - numerous personalities from the online media world will present themselves in performances, talks and shows as part of a conference and trade fair. The OMR Festival aims to bring together CEOs and marketing managers from companies of all sizes to exchange ideas on all aspects of digital marketing. From 2021, the festival will be accompanied by a podcast hosted by Philipp Westermeyer.
The OMR Festival was launched as a conference in 2011 and was held in cooperation with the Hamburg Media School at Bucerius Law School. The number of guests and visitors has grown year on year. In 2014 the conference was sold out with 2,000 visitors.
In 2015, a trade fair was organised alongside the conference and in 2016, the festival moved to the Hamburg Exhibition Centre. By then, the number of conference participants had grown to 4,900. The exhibition was seen by over 15,000 visitors. Between 2017 and 2019, the festival spread to more and more halls of the exhibition centre, and the number of participants and visitors continued to grow steadily. Over time, more and more prominent artists and musicians were booked for the show acts, including Deichkind, Jan Delay, Scooter, Kraftclub, Marteria and Udo Lindenberg. In 2019, the festival attracted over 52,000 visitors.
The OMR Festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. After a two-year hiatus, the festival returned to the exhibition halls in May 2022 with 70,000 visitors. Speakers included Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino and actor Ashton Kutcher. Tennis player Serena Williams was a guest in 2023, and Kim Kardashian attended in 2024.
In 2025, the marketing industry will meet again on 6 and 7 May at the Hamburg Exhibition Centre. Successful marketing experts will share their experiences on four stages. Sport will also be in the spotlight on the Blue Stage, with chess taking centre stage.
With the onset of the pandemic, chess life largely shifted to the internet, where it was presented by chess streamers, some of whom became very popular thanks to their entertainment skills. These certainly include Levy Rozman (Gotham Chess) and Anna Cramling, who reach a huge number of subscribers with their streams. Daniel Rensch is there as a representative of the US site chess.com, the largest online chess platform. From 11:35 to 12:10, they will talk to Stefan Kastenmüller about the online chess scene.
For fans of high-octane sports: former Formula 1 racing driver Mika Häkkinen will be talking about how teamwork, technology and personalisation contribute to success in Formula 1 in the afternoon (3:05–3:25 p.m.).
However, admission is not exactly cheap for visitors. A two-day pass costs €653.31 (including 19% VAT).
