11/3/2025 – The European Club Cup is always an interesting event, featuring all levels running from strong amateurs to absolute elite players. Both Germany's Vincent Keymer and Dutch Anish Giri used the opportunity to further rise in the world rankings, currently being 4th and 5th respectively. Giri started playing more aggressively recently, playing great Najdorf games against 1.e4. World Cup: Four players bounce back on demand, Wang upsets Mendonca

11/3/2025 – The opening round of the 2025 FIDE World Cup neared its conclusion on Sunday, with most matches already producing a winner after the second classical game. Out of 78 encounters, 58 were decided without the need for tiebreaks, while 20 remain level and will continue on Monday. ChessMom Project returns for 2026 Chess Olympiad in Uzbekistan

11/2/2025 – FIDE has announced the return of the ChessMom Project for the 46th Chess Olympiad in Uzbekistan in 2026, expanding its support for professional women players who are also mothers. Building on the success of its 2024 debut in Budapest, the initiative provides financial assistance and logistical support to help mothers compete while caring for their young children. The 2026 edition will extend eligibility to players with children under two years old.

FIDE ratings - November 2025

11/2/2025 – It's now official: Vincent Keymer has jumped from ninth place last month to fourth place in the new FIDE world rankings. With his successes in the European Team Championship and the European Club Cup, the German star has improved his rating by another 18 points. Magnus Carlsen continue to be the highest-rated player in the world, while Hou Yifan still leads the women's rankings.

World Cup: No major upsets, plenty of tactical shots

11/2/2025 – The wait is over for one of the chess world's most prestigious events, as the FIDE World Cup got underway on Saturday in Goa, India. Over the next 26 days, 206 players will compete for three coveted places in the next Candidates Tournament. While most favourites began solidly with wins, a few underdogs held higher-rated opponents to draws. World Cup 2025: How good are the chances for the favourites?

10/31/2025 – The first round of the World Cup will begin in Goa, India, on 1 November at 15:00 local time. A total of 206 players will compete; the oldest participant is 65-year-old Igor Efimov, while the youngest is Faustino Oro, who turned 12 in October. The prize money totals 2 million US dollars, and the top three finishers will qualify for the Candidates Tournament. Matches will consist of two games, with rapid chess and blitz tiebreaks following a 1–1 score. The loser is eliminated. European Youth Championship starts in Budva, Montenegro
