The Chinese women of course won first place...
... followed by the Indians, who took Silver
But it was the Kazakhstani women who surprised everyone
The Kazakhstan Chess Federation sent us the following message:
In the final ninth round of the team chess tournament at the 2023 Asian Games, Kazakhstani women achieved a significant victory over the Uzbekistan team with a score of 3:1, securing themselves bronze medals, an achievement Kazakhstan had never previously attained in the team competition at the Asian Games.
The Kazakhstani women's chess team demonstrated a unique sense of unity, cohesion, and exceptional gaming skills that led to this historic achievement. The team consisted of Bibisara Asaubayeva, Meruert Kamalidenova, Zhansaya Abdumalik, Dinara Saduakassova, and Alua Nurmanova. Behind the scenes of these competitions was months of hard work and preparation by the team, which did not go unnoticed. In total, our team achieved six victories, drew one match, and suffered only two losses, ultimately resulting in outstanding success — bronze medals at the 19th Asian Games.
This achievement by the women's chess team of Kazakhstan holds exceptional significance, instilling pride in the entire nation. The team demonstrated that Kazakhstan is capable of great sporting victories on the world stage. Asian Games took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, from September 23 to October 8. Kazakhstan's women's chess team has rightfully etched their names into the history of national sports, and we eagerly await future achievements.
