Boleslavsky and Bronstein win Budapest 1950

Lawrence Trent: "In this show I focus on the 1950 Candidates Tournament in Budapest. I am going to analyse the crushing victory by White in Boleslavsky-Smyslov (Round 6) and how this Ukranian Grandmaster almost challenged for the world crown."

But first, a position from a current tournament, the Magnus Carlsen Invitational. This is a position from a game between Ian Nepomniatchi and Ding Liren. Ding, who is usually solid, seems to be on the ropes here. In the given position he played the move 22...Rxf5, but did he overlook something?

Welcome to the Bombastic Bird's, a revolutionary repertoire for one of the most enterprising and underrated openings in chess theory (1.f4). In this series, IM Lawrence Trent uncovers a number of groundbreaking theoretical novelties and new ideas that will soon have scorners of this romantic system regretting they ever doubted its soundness.
