Niemann prevails

This year, eight grandmasters from eight different countries will fight in a single round-robin event. The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the remainder of the game, with 30-second increments from move 1. According to the ‘Malmö rules’, no draws are allowed before move 40.

Schedule (all times CEST)

  • May 3 to 6 - Rounds 1-4 at 15.00
  • May 7 - Round 5 at 14.00
  • May 8 - Round 6 at 15.00
  • May 9 - Round 7 at 12.00

Fascinated by the French Winawer

The Winawer Variation in just 60 minutes - that can only work by reducing it to a clear repertoire for Black and, where possible, general recommendations rather than variations.
