Anand among wildcards at the Superbet Rapid & Blitz in Poland

5/18/2022 – The Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland will be held at the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw on May 17-23. It will feature four full tour players and six wildcard players. The field will be headed by Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So and Levon Aronian. Vishy Anand and Jan-Krzysztof Duda are the highest-rated wildcards included in the mix. Press release by the Grand Chess Tour

The Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland, the newest stop on the Grand Chess Tour, will feature four full-tour players and six wildcard players.

This will be the first time for grandmasters Kirill Shevchenko from Ukraine and Radoslaw Wojtaszek from Poland. Rounding out the wildcards will be former World Champion Viswanathan Anand from India, 2021 World Cup winner Jan-Krzysztof Duda from Poland, grandmaster Anton Korobov from Ukraine, and David Gravilescu from Romania.

The tournament is sponsored by the Superbet Foundation. The first rapid and blitz leg of the tour will feature a 10 player round-robin battle for a $175,000 prize fund.
