Spanish Team Championship

The 2006 Spanish Team Championship, División de Honor, is being held in three stages:

  • Group 1 took place in Olite, from September 6–10 2006;
  • Group 2 took place in San Sebastián, from Spetember 13–17, 2006
  • The final will be held in Lugo, from November 3–4, 2006.

In Group 1 the favourites Intel Tiendas UPI with Ivanchuk, Radjabov, Vallejo Pons, Bruzon, Volokitin, Eljanov, Illescas Cordoba, and Reverté Albox Unicaja with Dreev, Krasenkow, Rustemov, Movsesian, Sutovsky, qualified for the final.

In Group 2 Linex Magic with Aronian, Morozevich, Ponomariov, Shirov, Karjakin, Sargissian, Rublevsky and Ajoblanco Cuna de Dragones with Svidler, Adams, Mamedyarov, Jakovenko, Harikrishna, Timofeev qualified. Gros Xake Taldea with Gelfand, van Wely, Zhang Pengxiang, Smirin and Bauer narrowly missed the final.
