by Robert Ris
9/2/2025 – In his new Fast & Furious show, Robert Ris presents a really wild game - at the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica Zdroj Yakubboev and Bluebaum found a way to turn the solid Queen's Gambit into absolute mayhem. | Fast & Furious is available on-demand with a ChessBase Premium Account. This video course offers you a complete, clear repertoire for Black against the moves 1.Nf3 and 1.c4. The recommended variations are easy to learn and not difficult to remember, but also pose White serious challenges.

Robert Ris: "I have an in-depth look at the absolutely incredible game between Yakubboev and Bluebaum from the Rubinstein Memorial in Polanica Zdroj. It started as a solid Queens Gambit Declined in which White claims an edge playing against the Isolated Queens Pawn, but the Uzbek top GM had a completely different interpretation of the position.

He left his king behind in the centre, launched the h-pawn and even allowed Black to solve the pawn weakness by playing ...d5-d4. All White's pieces were fantastically placed and a beautiful combination followed (see diagram)."

Exercise: White has built up a nice position. How to continue?

Feel free to move the pieces on the live diagram!
