by Robert Ris
6/21/2025 – In his new Fast & Furious show, Robert Ris takes a look at the game Nodirbek Yakubboev vs Arjun Erigaisi from the UzChess Cup Masters in Tashkent. In the first round of the tournament Erigaisi decided to try the Pirc Defence against Yakubboev and was rewarded with a surprisingly quick and easy win. | Fast & Furious is available on-demand with a ChessBase Premium Account. This video course offers you a complete, clear repertoire for Black against the moves 1.Nf3 and 1.c4. The recommended variations are easy to learn and not difficult to remember, but also pose White serious challenges.

Robert Ris: "I take a look at the Round 1 encounter from the UzChess Cup Masters in Tashkent between Yakubboev and Erigaisi. In a Pirc Opening with 3.Bd3, Black came well prepared and opened the center with a quick ...d6–d5. After the dust had settled, White was a pawn up, but Black’s compensation was more than sufficient. However, grabbing a second pawn on b7 proved to be fatal, and Erigaisi converted his decisive advantage impressively."
