The Board of the ACP has held its second meeting of the year on the 16th of January 2004 in Wijk aan Zee. It has appointed its three officers with GM Joel Lautier as President, GM Alexander Baburin as Secretary and WGM Almira Skripchenko as Treasurer.
The current number of its adherents has now risen to 146 members with 10 of the top 15 players in the world having joined.
Among the important items on its agenda, the ACP will address FIDE and the ECU (European Chess Union) on critical issues such as regulations, playing conditions and time-control for the next FIDE World Championships and ECU European Championships to be held this year.
The ACP is also working towards building a series of tournaments for 2005 that will be named the ACP Tour and plans to include both rapid and classical tournaments. A detailed memorandum of the ACP plans for the coming year will soon be published on its website and other chess media.
