In round 7, Germany played Hungary in both tournaments, and in the open tournament it was Frederik Svane who scored first.

Svane had Black and opted for the French, which his opponent countered with the Advance Variation. However, White failed to coordinate his pieces properly in the middlegame and Svane won convincingly. This victory brings the young German grandmaster to an overall score of 6 out of 7.

The second win for the German team was secured by Dmitrij Kollars, who showed his class in a rook ending. After draws by Matthias Bluebaum and Rasmus Svane Germany won 3-1. Switzerland also won 3-1 and with only two team-points behind, they remain the closest rival of Germany.

Women's Mitropa Cup

The German women's team also celebrated a 3-1 win over Hungary, although the results were slightly different. After four wins and two draws, Jana Schneider suffered her first defeat of the tournament against Dorina Demeter. With black, the German board two failed to find a good set-up against the Zukertort system and then fell victim to a nice attacking combination.

On the other three boards, however, the German players prevailed. Josefine Heinemann defeated Julianna Terbe with White in a tricky endgame.

Lara Schulze won with White against Szuszana Terbe and Kateryna Dolzhykova won with Black against Kata Karacsonyi.

Despite the win, Germany was unable to extend its lead over Switzerland, who beat Austria 3-1.
