Live lecture: Middlegame Maneuvering

by Kasparov Chess Foundation
3/28/2026 – We are excited to announce an exclusive live lecture with GM Max Dlugy at KCF Academy on March 29. In this session, GM Dlugy will turn his focus to the middlegame, the stage of the game where deep strategic thinking, long-range planning, and precise piece coordination so often determine the outcome.

Your personal chess trainer. Your toughest opponent. Your strongest ally.
FRITZ 20 is more than just a chess engine – it is a training revolution for ambitious players and professionals. Whether you are taking your first steps into the world of serious chess training, or already playing at tournament level, FRITZ 20 will help you train more efficiently, intelligently and individually than ever before.

The lecture will cover the art of maneuvering: how to reposition pieces to better squares, how to identify and exploit weak points in the opponent's structure, and how to build and convert lasting positional advantages.

Max Dlugy is not only a world-renowned grandmaster but also a brilliant chess educator known for his dynamic style and deep understanding of the game. Dlugy was one of the top blitz players in the world, even earning the title of World Junior Champion in 1985.

In 1990, he was elected President of the US Chess Federation, highlighting his leadership and influence in the chess world. That same year, Dlugy made history as the first GM hired by IBM to contribute to the groundbreaking Deep Blue project. Today, he continues to shape the next generation of chess talent through Chess Max Academy, his own chess school with locations in New York and Connecticut. You can visit his YouTube channel here.

During this special session, GM Dlugy will share insights from his professional career, key strategic principles, and practical tips for both tournament and blitz play. This is a rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the sharpest tactical minds in the game!
