The recently finished 2019-2021 Bundesliga season was the longest in the history of the league. A few months after it started the Corona pandemic brought it to a halt after eight rounds had been played and after a long delay the last seven rounds of the season were played in Berlin in October. In the end, the perennial winner, the team of Baden-Baden, won again.

Karsten and Arne look at some of the many fascinating endgames that were played in Berlin. The diagram below shows a pawn endgame from a game between Matthias Bluebaum and Igor Kovalenko. It is Black to move and win. But how?
