Grandmaster and "Blindfold King" Timur Gareyev is known for his creative attacking chess. On his new DVD he recommends playing the Trompowsky (1.d4 Nf6 2.Bg5):
"Tap into your creative mind and start the game on a fresh note. The Trompowsky is an opening outside of conventional wisdom. Create challenges and make your opponent solve problems early on. This DVD expresses my passion for active play where time prevails over matter and where you have to be prepared to play gambits. We start with sacrificial style opening play, then we continue with more solid, positional structures. In the end I introduce you to creative ideas that will complement your explosive opening choice!"
Timur Gareyev is a chess grandmaster who was born in Uzbekistan and now lives and plays in the USA. He’s a participant of two World Chess Olympiads and became GM at age of 16. With a peak USCF rating of 2780 he once was number three in the US and one of the best 100 players in the world.
